What has changed?
In-line with our commitment to continuous growth and improvement, the team has built upon the successes (and failures) of the first edition of The Academic Label to curate a better mentorship experience.

1. Revised Mentoring Guidelines
In the upcoming run of The Academic Label, progress tracking of the first 3 months of mentorship will cease to adopt a stringent, purely quantitative approach. Now, along with scaled down quantitative methods, qualitative methods (e.g., goal setting and reflections) will also be introduced. The team will also be removing hard set monthly mentorship hour requirements, and will instead be instituting a scaled down hours requirement over the course of 3 months to allow greatly flexibility.

2. Introducing "ASPect"
Thanks to the tremendous success of the Application Support Programme's (ASP) pilot run in the first edition of The Academic Label, ASP will be restructured to form a fully fledged programme under forYouths. Mentees in The Academic Label will automatically be affiliates of the programme and be able to access the opportunities provided by ASPect, such the intensive group-base mentorship for university application support.

3. Piloting the "Vocational Support Programme" (VSP)
In view of the impending June holidays, some mentees might want to enrich their holiday by pursuing vocational experiences such as externships and shadowing. VSP adopts a mentorship-based approach, similar to ASPect, to provide complimentary on-demand resume assistance and general guidance towards pursuing such vocational experiences. Mentees will be placed into support groups based on their vocational interests.

4. In-person Induction Programme
Under the auspices of various external stakeholders, The Academic Label, together with ASPect, will be hosting our very first in-person induction programme, in-line with our goal to create support systems between our like-minded mentees. Look out for our upcoming posts for more details.
